Nebraska lists awardees for 3.3 Rural Health Care Workforce Incentive & Sustainability
Nebraska has announced awards under Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) Initiative 3.3, committing $2 million to expand the state’s rural healthcare workforce pipeline through the SNAP Employment & Training (SNAP E&T) program.
The funding supports organizations building sustainable workforce pathways into rural healthcare careers by expanding training, recruitment, and employment partnerships. Awardees include Waterfield Health LLC, York County Health Coalition, Lutheran Family Services, and The Well NE.
While modest compared with Nebraska’s larger RHTP infrastructure and technology investments, Initiative 3.3 addresses one of rural healthcare’s most persistent challenges: developing a reliable workforce. By leveraging SNAP E&T’s third-party partnership model, the program aims to connect more Nebraskans with healthcare careers while helping rural providers fill critical staffing gaps.
Colorado reports on CMS site visit
Colorado RHTP Hosts CMS for Site Visit
On June 30 and July 1, the Colorado Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) team welcomed representatives from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for two days of collaborative meetings and site visits to Lincoln Health’s clinic in Byers and Lincoln Health Community Hospital in Hugo.
The visit provided an opportunity to share progress on Colorado’s Rural Health Transformation Program and discuss key implementation efforts, including Colorado’s rural health landscape, the Tribal Program, the Request for Applications (RFA) process, and the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) partnerships that are helping advance this work. Throughout the visit, HCPF and CMS engaged in thoughtful discussions about program implementation, lessons learned, and opportunities to strengthen rural health care across the state.
A highlight of the visit was traveling to Hugo, where CMS representatives met directly with local health care leaders and community partners. These conversations provided valuable insight into the unique opportunities and challenges facing rural communities and showcased the innovation, collaboration, and commitment of providers working to improve access to high-quality care close to home.
The visit reinforced the strong partnership between Colorado and CMS and reflected the shared commitment to transparency, collaboration, and successful implementation of the Rural Health Transformation Program. HCPF appreciates CMS’s ongoing engagement and technical partnership as the program moves toward its next milestones. We are especially grateful to Lincoln Health for its hospitality and for providing an authentic look at the important work taking place to transform rural health care in Colorado.
