Note: today we’ve published our RHTP Q3 2026 Quarterly Report. See link below. Any subscription gets access.
The Q3 report tracks the first year of Rural Health Transformation funding through September. We’ve traced $4.35 billion in awards and notices of intent to award to specific grantees—43.5% of the $10 billion CMS obligated for Year 1—and broken it down by state, month, topic and award size. It also covers federal outlays to states ($212 million so far), what the first state annual reports show, where each state stands on the eight policy commitments used in CMS scoring, and which states have already posted Year 2 solicitations.
Also: don’t sleep on the free Rural Health Transformation Program State-by-State Reference Guide, a 50-State index with a profile for every state's Rural Health Transformation Program. Each one gives the exact CMS award, who runs the program as well as advisory committes, key focus, how the state defines rural, and a dated log of every posting linked to the source document. It's checked nightly, reviewed weekly, and built on the most complete RHTP awards database there is.

Georgia moves its GME Development GREAT Health Funding Opportunity Announcement deadline to October 30
The “supplemental” Georgia posted October 2 is the same announcement with one line changed:
Closing: October 30, 2026
The September 15 edition said October 15. That is the only difference between the two PDFs. We covered the program when it opened on September 17: up to $3,000,000 per award, at least two awards, money spent by September 1, 2027.
Georgia also posted a three-question FAQ. Here are the answers:
New GME programs are not required to be launched by the end of the period of performance. However, all approved activities outlined in the grant application must be completed before the end of the period of performance to be eligible for reimbursement.
Yes, an organization in the early stages of developing a GME program and seeking ACGME accreditation is eligible to apply for the GREAT Health Rural GME Development Grant, provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.
Yes, other specialties may apply and will be considered based on workforce need and application merit.
So a pre-accreditation program in a non-listed specialty can apply, and has two more weeks to do it. The GREAT Health Advisory Committee meets tomorrow, October 6.
Louisiana closes its Year 1 application cycle, denial notifications by October 16
LDH rewrote its status table on October 2. Every strategy that read “Application Submission Deadline for Year 1 Funds — Closed — End of September” now reads Completed, and one line was added:
Notification of denial for all remaining strategies by October 16, 2026.
If you applied to a Louisiana Year 1 strategy and haven’t heard, October 16 is the date. No dollar figures or recipients on the page.
