South Dakota revises its Rural Health Transformation Program Timeline for Year 2

South Dakota DOH replaced its timeline with a version marked “Revised: October 14, 2026.” The old one stopped at “Mid to Late 2026.” The new one starts at Year 2 and runs through October 2027.

Here’s the first two quarters:

Late 2026 (October-December) Budget Period 2 award received; Year 2 begins Roadmap Coordination Workshop aligns all ten initiatives (Pierre, November) Digital health modernization Phase 2 begins: interoperability, cybersecurity and EHR optimization

Early 2027 (January-March) Workforce expansion and training scale through the Rural Health Forward Training Hub EMS regionalization framework development underway

Digital health modernization Phase 2 is the next technology door in South Dakota. The timeline puts no solicitation, date or dollar figure on it yet.

Idaho posts its Initial Annual Report to CMS - August 2026: $10.5 million obligated to eight entities, $124,625 disbursed

Idaho linked its annual report from the program page October 14. The folder holds two workbooks: “Idaho Annual Report_Submitted83126” and “Project Plan_Submitted_083026.”

The First-Tier Entities tab lists eight:

  • Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (admin), $430,414

  • Comagine Health (MCH - IDPQC), $1,910,246.15

  • Comagine Health (MCH - OB Readiness), $1,198,736

  • Coeur d’Alene Tribe, $2,316,125.51

  • Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, $2,002,701.98

  • Nez Perce Tribe, $1,534,550.92

  • Shoshone-Paiute Tribes, $677,029.67

  • Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, $469,592.27

That’s $10,539,396.50, or 5.7% of Idaho’s $185.97 million Year 1. The only money disbursed is $124,625.35, all of it administration. Since the report was filed, Idaho has said its Healthcare Infrastructure Support Solicitation alone drew more than 250 applications asking for more than $300 million.

One line for vendors, from the report’s success stories, about the May 24–25, 2027 Idaho Rural Health Conference:

attendees will also have access to a broad range of rural health vendors to explore new equipment, technologies, and product solutions that could potentially be invested in if they choose to apply for an RHT solicitation.

Mississippi reposts its Electronic Health Records (EHR) Replacement for Small Rural Providers Program NOFO with a wider priority ranking

We covered this NOFO yesterday. Mississippi swapped the October 13 file for one dated October 14. I diffed the two, and the only substantive change is the priority list. Priorities 2 and 3 used to read “existing non-certified EHR system.” They now read:

  1. Those without any EHR system.

  2. Those with an existing EHR system converting to HITECH-certified EHR system.

  3. Those with an existing EHR system in need of an upgrade.

  4. Those with an existing HITECH-certified EHR system in need of an upgrade.

Dates are unchanged: applications open October 21 and are due November 23 at 5 PM CT. The application portal that went up on the funding page overnight belongs to the BRIDGE Innovative Pilot Program, which opened October 14 as scheduled.
