California — AB109 (Budget Act of 2026): The Assembly’s main budget vehicle, which carries the $233.6 million in federal Rural Health Transformation Program funds that the California Department of Health Care Access and Information will direct toward a transformative care model, workforce development, and health technology in rural and frontier communities — taken up with the committee chair’s author’s amendments, read a second time, amended, and re-referred to the Assembly Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review on June 11, 2026. Currently in the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review.

Iowa Upcoming Webinar: Health Hub Technical Assistance Kickoff
The University of Iowa will host a virtual webinar to kick of the new Health Hubs Technical Assistance project in Iowa as part of the Healthy Hometowns Program, Iowa’s Rural health Transformation Plan.
This project is designed to support rural Iowa organizations in strengthening their capacity to deliver impactful specialty services, including maternity and cardiovascular care, closer to home for their communities. The University of Iowa will provide healthcare service providers with guidance and training to design, implement, and sustain Hub and Spoke models of care with a focus on Maternal health and Cardiovascular Health Care.
