Clarified that “This project is 100% funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for a total of $212.9 million in budget year 1 with 100% by CMS/HHS. The RHTF grant spans five budget periods aligned with federal fiscal years (FY2026–FY2030). Funding is disbursed annually by CMS based on achievement of performance metrics. New Mexico provided the Latest News for Providers and Communities
New Mexico was awarded $211,484,741 for Federal Fiscal Year 2026 (FFY26) through the CMS Rural Health Transformation (RHT) Program to support implementation of the state’s five approved RHT initiatives.
The Health Care Authority (HCA) and CMS will meet to discuss next steps for implementation, including implementation timelines, reporting expectations, allowable expenditures, technical assistance supports, and finalization of a revised budget aligned with New Mexico’s award amount and organizational structure.
HCA will fill new job positions to oversee and carry out RHT initiatives.
HCA will finalize implementation milestones, procurement timelines, and opportunities for provider and community engagement.
HCA will develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to distribute funding to rural health communities, including establishment and support of the Rural Health Sustainability and Innovation Center (RHSIC).

Due to overwhelming interest, OHA will now host two identical webinars on February 24 to help organizations prepare for the grant proposal process expected to begin this spring.
Each webinar will provide:

Updates on the agency’s work to date
Information currently available about the Request for Grant Proposal (RFGP) process
Both sessions will cover the same information and will be recorded and posted on our website afterward.
